Second level degree
The second level degree course is intended for:
- Students who have obtained a first level degree and at least 120 university credits.
In order to be admitted to the second level degree course in Design and Management of Mediterranean Tourism Systems, the credits must conform to the requirements of the didactic regulations of the course.
The university credits (180) granted by any first level degree in Tourism Sciences in Italy (“Classe L-15”) are fully recognized.
Students with other degrees need to apply to have their curriculum evaluated and recognized. Students must submit a certificate indicating their degree, the exams taken and the credits obtained. The staff will verify the information provided and will notify the students of possible additional work needed in order to reach the minimum number of required credits.
Second level degree course programme outline
Programmes
The degree course in Design and Management of Mediterranean Tourism Systems offers two distinct programmes of study which share a common core:
- Cultural tourism;
- Tourism economics and law.
In the first semester, all students are required to attend the same courses for a total of 30 credits. Specialization in the two programmes begins from the second semester of the first year with courses that make up at least 57 credits.
In the second year, students must choose from a selection of common courses for a total of 12 credits (6 + 6) and complete a final exam worth 21 credits.
The degree course in Design and Management of Mediterranean Tourism Systems aims to promote connections between tourism and the territory in the tourism systems of the Mediterranean area. More specifically, the course aims:
- to enhance the planning, promotional and managerial abilities of the practitioners who will be employed in tourism systems exploiting the natural and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean territories
- to favour the development of the expertise necessary to manage the supply and demand of tourism by stressing the importance of a systemic view of tourism and the crucial role of a close contact between private and public promoters in planning, marketing and managing tourism products
- to provide the students with the skills necessary to operate in the field of tourism in a systemic way rather than in a sectorial, restricted dimension.
